Sagrada Familia

The Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Familia: Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia is a large Roman Catholic church in Barcelona, designed by Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926). Although incomplete, the church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and in November 2010 Pope Benedict XVI consecrated and proclaimed it a minor basilica, as distinct from a cathedral, which must be the seat of a bishop. Construction of Sagrada Familia commenced in 1882 and Gaudí became involved in 1883,taking over the project and transforming it with his architectural and engineering style, combining Gothic and curvilinear Art Nouveau forms. Gaudí devoted his last years to the project, and at the time of his death at age 73 in 1926, less than a quarter of the project was complete.

 

Port Aventura

PortAventura World is an entertainment resort in the south of Catalonia, in SalouTarragona,Spain; on the Costa Daurada. It was built around the PortAventura theme park, which attracts around 4 million visitors per year making it the most visited theme park in Spain. PortAventura Park is also the 6th most visited theme park in Europe.The resort will include a second theme park, Ferrari Land, from 2017 and also includes Costa Caribe Aquatic Park and six hotels. It is the biggest resort in the south of Europe. It has two airports within 30 minutes of it, including Reus Airport.There is a train station for PortAventura which has connections to Barcelona and Salou.

 

Parque Güel

The Park Güell is a public park system composed of gardens and architectonic elements located on Carmel Hill, in BarcelonaCatalonia (Spain). Carmel Hill belongs to the mountain range of Collserola– the Parc del Carmel is located on the northern face. Park Güell is located in La Salut, a neighborhood in the Gràcia district of Barcelona. With urbanization in mind, Eusebi Güell assigned the design of the park to Antoni Gaudí, a renowned architect and the face of Catalan modernism. The park was built between 1900 and 1914 and was officially opened as a public park in 1926. In 1984, UNESCO declared the park a World Heritage Site under “Works of Antoni Gaudí”.

 

Montserrat Monastery

The Spanish Civil War (1936 - 1939) led once again to the abandonment of the monastery. However, the Government of Catalonia managed to save Montserrat from being sacked and destroyed.
Today, Montserrat has been modernised to continue attending to the needs to pilgrims one thousand years after it was originally founded.
